Justin Soule and Taddy Blazusiak round out the podium

Las Vegas, NV (May 4, 2012) – The 2012 GEICO AMA EnduroCross championship, presented by Lucas Oil kicked off with a bang inside the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. Colton Haaker got his first ever GEICO AMA EnduroCross main event win by leading every lap of the main event. The Lucas Oil backed Kawasaki rider withstood heavy pressure from Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Justin Soule for the duration but never put a wheel wrong. KTM’s Taddy Blazusiak came back from a first turn crash to finish third. After going undefeated in 2011, Blazusiak had a tough day and crashed a few times in practice and during his heat race, which forced him to the Semi. Beta’s Cody Webb finished fourth ahead of Taylor Robert rounded out the top five. Mike Brown, Cory Graffunder, Kyle Redmond, Kevin Rookstool, Brobby Prochnau and Destry Abbott rounded out the top eleven riders that made the main event.

Mike Brown got the day started off by setting the fastest lap during the hot laps, where the riders do a single lap against the clock. Blazusiak finished second ahead of Webb, Graffunder and Robert.

The evening also included the support classes. The Open Amateur class, which was won by Max Gerston over Bryan Roper and Shane Cuthbertson. Kurt Nicoll won the Vet class over Josh Adams and Rich Black. Phil Smage, won the TrialsCross class ahead of Zach Sweeten and Ty Cullins.

The Women’s class was won KTM’s Maria Forsburg. Kacy Martinez passed Forsburg and led for a little while to make it interesting but a mistake forced her to settle for second. Louise Forsley finished third with Chantelle Bykerk fourth and Nicole Bradford rounding out the top five.

Follow your favorite riders in real time

Irvine, CA (May 2, 2012) – The 2012 GEICO AMA EnduroCross championship, presented by Lucas Oil will kick off this Friday night inside the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. And for the first time ever, EnduroCross fans will be able to follow the action via live timing and scoring. All “Night Show” racing action will be included starting with the Amateur Open main event scheduled for 8:15 PM PST. That will be followed by the three Expert Heat races, TrialsCross Main, two Expert Semi’s, Vet Main, Expert LCQ, Women’s Main and wrap up with the Expert main event.

“We have EnduroCross fans from around the world that want to know what is happening in real time so we are happy about getting this live feed up and running” stated Mike Karsting, VP of Events at Source Interlink. “The results feed won’t catch the real action of EnduroCross but at least race fans will be able to follow their favorite riders results live”.

Cory Graffunder and Kyle Redmond headline Husky’s 2012 factory off-road effort

Corona, CA – April 26, 2012 - Husqvarna Motorcycle North America (HMNA) is proud to introduce Kyle Redmond and Cory Graffunder as members of the Husqvarna factory race team. Slated to contest the 2012 AMA EnduroCross championship, Redmond and Graffunder are counting down the days to the opening round of the eight-round series, which will once again feature the ESPN X Games.

Mounted aboard factory-backed Husqvarna TXC310s with additional backing from FMF Racing, Stillwell Performance and Dunlop, Graffunder and Redmond are ready to take on the 2012 AMA/GEICO EnduroCross series, which will kick off on May 4 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Cory Graffunder returns in 2012 as a Husqvarna EnduroCross racer. The Canadian regrettably spent the majority of last year out with a broken wrist, which he suffered in a crash only days before the Summer X Games. Fortunately he recovered in time for the last two rounds of the series, and was able to notch a podium finish at the 2011 season finale.

“It was probably the biggest disappointment of my life, getting injured and missing X Games,” Graffunder said of last year’s season. “I had a bad season last year but finished it on a good note. I just want to keep getting on the podium this year. I can’t explain how excited I am to be heading into the series on a factory Husky. I’m really looking forward to qualifying for X Games, which I’m confident I can do.”

Extreme enduro specialist Kyle Redmond is new to Husqvarna, and will be racing the AMA EnduroCross Series as well as select events such as the Tennessee Knock Out, Xtinction and Last Dog Standing. The California native is looking forward to stepping up his game on the factory-backed Husqvarna TXC310.

“The TXC310 definitely has a great motor,” Redmond said. “We have a lot more power this year (as opposed to the 250F I was on last year) and we’re working with some really great sponsors. Alan Stillwell with Stillwell Performance is dialing in our suspension and the bikes are working really great. We’re ready to get the season started strong.”

“We’re all super excited about our factory Husqvarna EnduroCross team,” said HMNA Product and Racing Manager Derek Sorenson. “We have two of the best extreme enduro riders in the world, and they’ve both proven that they are among the very few riders who are capable of reaching the podium in an EnduroCross.

Everything that was learned the last couple years in the World Enduro with the CH Racing team has been translated to the production bike, and fortunately for us here in the U.S., we’re really reaping the rewards. The event will also serve as round three of the GEICO AMA EnduroCross by Lucas Oil championship series for the expert riders. The riders will be selected to compete in the X Games Enduro X based on the following qualification process:

The top female riders will also get their own class at Enduro X with Maria Forsberg, Tarah Geiger and Kacy Martinez, the Gold, Silver and Bronze medalist respectively from 2011 confirmed to return. Like the men, the top female non-qualified finishers from the Las Vegas and Sacramento events will also be invited along with a few Wild Card invites (Germany’s Steffi Laier is already a confirmed Women’s class Wild Card invitee).

If you want to see the riders that will be mixing up at X Games 18, you can go to the Staples Center on Sunday, July 1st or catch many of those same riders at any of the other seven GEICO AMA EnduroCross events in 2012.
